Can you help?
Since 2012 I’ve been concluding agreements with ex-professional motorsport photographers and other owners of historical photos for the rights to offer their photos on my site, with their authorship acknowledged. They’ve been giving me boxes of rapidly deteriorating slides and photos, dusty and mostly unreferenced. I dust off and clean up the originals as best I can before scanning them to digital format and carefully referencing them with as much information about each image as I can find.
I return to each photographer their originals plus digital versions, with the images now clearly referenced. Each filename specifies when and where the photo was taken, the marque of the car, names of driver and co-driver and any other pertinent information. My in-depth knowledge of the subject and extensive reference materials enable me to provide all these details about images that often have no accompanying information.
So: Do you have any photos or slides of motorsport in years gone by? Please contact me about an agreement to digitise and annotate them for your personal use and add them to my collection. Images from the pre-WWII period and from the 1940s to the end of the 1960s would be particularly welcome.
